Mateo's First Sleepover

Today was a first for me and for Mateo. For the first time I was letting him take a step towards independence by allowing him to attend a non-family sleepover. To be exact it was a sleepover/birthday party for some twins in his class. There was going to be pizza, video games, park time and junk food perfect for a 2nd grade party. He was so excited and I was a little nervous.

So of course I had to be the one to drop him off...there is his backpack and sleeping bag...clink

Mateo, waiting for the rest of the party to show up

After leaving him, the rest of the family went to Aba's for a little get together. The weather was terrible until this beautiful rainbow came out. Kind of a sign that everything would be ok.

Mima and Lucia shared a smile while enjoying some girl time

M&L Celebrate Easter in Hoboken - 2014

Today is Easter and unfortunately this year we were not able to go to Miami, but fortunately a little bit of Miami came to us.

Mateo and Lucia got dressed up in their Easter best and we all went to brunch. Lucia was very excited about her Easter dress.

The Vielot-Gonzalez crew enjoyed a great meal at one of our favorite local restaurants

After Easter brunch we all went to watch Lucia at soccer

When the kids got home they were pleased that the Easter bunny had left them a basket full of goodies

After their inside egg hunt, the kids played a quick game of chess

Lucia was very focused

As was her brother

And here is our little bit of Miami, who unfortunately has to go back today, but will be back soon enough

Baby Shower for Little VG

So although we have been way more low key about our upcoming addition, we wanted to give this one a mini shower to celebrate her and also to fill any needs we may have. I mean it has been almost 5 years, so a lot of our old baby stuff had been purged. Aba was gracious enough to lend us her home and I was very happy to have a special guest attend.

What special guest? Grandma!
Yah, she came in for the weekend which made us all so happy! Here she is helping our pianist who entertained guests with a few songs.

Lucia and Melanie were having fun taking care of these baby dolls...hopefully they will be just as helpful when the real deal comes along.

Yah for family

And friend support!

All my ladies

Soon-to-be grandparents (again) share a moment with me wearing  the embarrassing, traditional bridal shower hat that no one can get out of at a Gonzalez baby shower.

Lucia Goes to an Easter Egg Hunt

Today was HFA's Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Most of the time we miss it because we are out of town in Miami, but because I can't fly this late in the game we stayed home and as a result the kids, well actually just Lucia, got to go to the Hunt.

Here is Little Miss who is very happy with her findings

She then decided to make like an Easter Egg and hide behind this statue

Mateo's 1st Chess Tournament & Red Bull Tryout

Yes our weekend are normally quite busy with all types of practices and extracurriculars. Today was even more challenging because we had both a tournament and soccer tryouts in 2 different locations at times that were very close together.

First up  - Mateo's first chess tournament. This even took place in NYC and lasted approximately 5 hours. Here is Mateo practicing with Papi before the tournament began.

His friend Kasper also participated. Mateo got 4th place which is pretty good for his first time.

Very proud of our little chess master

Next up, tryouts for an 8 week clinic being managed by the Red Bulls. The tryouts were in some random city in New Jersey. We almost didn't make it, but luckily they didn't start on time.

Good news - 3 days later we found out that he made it. All in all a successful weekend.
