Lucia's "Shining" Turn

Today was the 2nd day of Ice Skating Camp and I would love to say that it went as smoothly as the first day, but there was this...

...Folks, this isn't Lucia being super cool (although she is) or her guarding her eyes from the sun as we ride on the top level of the ferry. Under those shade lies a whole turn of events...

...that's right, under those glasses is a large shiner that Lucia got while ice skating today. Apparently, she was playing a game of tag and instead of looking ahead she was looking behind and ended up skating into a wall at full speed.
Only Day 2!
Let's hope the rest of the week is uneventful.

Lucia's 1st Day of Ice Skating Camp

Another week, another camp. Last year and earlier this summer Mateo got to come into the city with me and now it was finally Lucia's turn. We signed her up for ice skating at Chelsea Piers and she was soooooo excited.

Miss Lucia is dressed and ready to skate

On our way home instead of having her take the long walk from camp to the ferry we brought her scooter along so she could take a leisurely scoot along the Westside highway.

Such balance and speed. Today was a successful day.

MLV Brunch it Out with Grandma

Today is the last full day that Grandma will be with us in Hoboken, so we wanted to go out and have a fantabulous brunch. What better place than Elysian Cafe?

We'll miss you Grandma, thanks for the visit!

Lucia's 2nd Celebration

Of course since Mateo got to celebrate his birthday a few times with a few different groups, Lucia wanted the same, so since there were a number of people to celebrate (Aba and Lucia) the family decided to throw a little celebration.

But first, swimming lessons. Today Lucia was easy breezy with her freestyle and backstroke. She got moved from Level 3 to Level 4.

Since this party was probably going to be an all night affair and it was one of the last nights Grandma was going to be here, I decided to bow out of the celebration, but not without sending them along with some homemade treats.
Happy Birthday...again...to Miss Lucia.

Lucia Does Matilda at Garden Street

At the end of the week of Lucia's Garden Street Music Camp, the kids had a little performance to highlight what they learned.

Lucia and friends (spot Vivi and Amelia in the front line) practice before performance time

Setting up for another scene

MLV End a Week of Camp

This week, Lucia had musical theater camp and Mateo had video game making camp at the Liberty Science Center. Based on the performances I saw live or over video it looks like the kids had a great time and learned a lot.

Lucia absolutely loves the Olympics, especially gymnastics, so today she decided to pay tribute by dressing in this patriotic leotard and hat.

Good thing I have summer Fridays, it allowed me to see Mateo's presentation of his video game project.

His game was pretty good, but he needs to work on providing his audience with a little more detail.

Nice pixel crossbow

Valentina didn't have camp, but she did fall in love with her sister's new game board game Poopyhead.
I am sure you can guess what's on her head...

V Wants a Big Girl Bed

Ok, ok so we are probably terrible parents because poor Valentina has been in her mini crib since birth. She is now over 2 and completely capable of crawling out of the low side or her crib so we turned that part around to face the wall. With the 3 in one room we are terrified of chaos, but...

...now that she can easily crawl up into Lucia's bed she likes to hang out there.
Soon little one, soon...
