M&L go to CFKC Family Day

Well today we were going to mix it up a little.  Normally Saturdays consist of piano, swimming and possibly some type of kid function like birthday party or soccer game. Today we did do piano and there was no swimming, but there was a kid event, but not the typical kind. Today I took Mateo and Lucia to the Cookies For Kids Cancer Family Fun Day. It's a wonderful organization doing amazing things for pediatric cancer and it is near and dear to my heart.

Before I headed off with the older 2, the younger 2 got in some sister time at the playground. Please note, Lucia falls in the "older 2" and "younger 2" set. Lucky girl.

Lucia and Valentina had a great time doing tricks on the slide

Lucia, the gymnast, showed little sis V how it's done

"Legs up!"

Perfect landing!

And up again...

...let me try.
"You can do it!"

After the slide, Lucia helped out with swing time.

Later, we met up with Amelia and Vivy and took the ferry into the City to go to the event.

Mateo loved it because the goal of the event was to get the sweet treats card (seen around his neck) punched at every table. Each table had cookies, sweets and other desserts for the children to take. At this table, Mateo was decorating his own cookie with edible markers.

Vivy, Lucia and Amelia (with mom Benat in the background) also got a kick out of the cookie coloring

Lucia got interviewed on the step-and-repeat and was a natural

Another treat station - Decorate Your Own Cake Pop

And another one- cupcake decorating

Mateo took a break from decorating and enjoyed the "fruits" of his labor

Lucia made a cute cupcake dog

Of course, Little Miss Lucia could not pass up an opportunity to get her face painted

Perfect place for a propped picture

Mateo insisted that I also get in on the action

"Hello Kitty!"

This was by far the most focused Lucia was at the whole event. She must have spent 30 minutes decorating this bag. The woman manning the table was quite impressed.

Speaking of focus, while Lucia's favorite was the bag decorating, Mateo spent a long time coloring this artwork piece

Still focused.

All in all it was a really fun day. The kids had a great time and we contributed to an awesome organization.
