Lucia Turns 7!

In June, we celebrated Valentina. In July we celebrated Mateo and now rounding our the summer - in August we celebrate fancy Miss Lucia. We normally take the day off to take the kids out, but this year it also happened to be Eddie's first day of work at his new job, so he was unable to join us. No worries, Grandma and I were keen at showing this girl how very special she is to us. Let the celebration begin.

Her request was to go to Funplex which is like an indoor arcade that also has some rides. She was free to load up her card with as many credits as she wanted and played whatever her heart desired.

Ever since our Ocean City vacation she's had the pinball itch, so when she spotted this - it was on!

She also really liked this motorcycle game .
"This is what cool looks like mom"

Ok, ok, I kind of forced her into playing this because it is one of my favorites.
She then proceeded to kick my tail in a few rounds of Skeeball. I will know better next time.

Onto the rides. This one she could luckily go on by herself. It shoots you up in the air and then drops down. Not built for my delicate stomach.

They also have this wizard game where we had to go around and find treasures by waving this magic wand and following the clues. We didn't get to everything, but it was fun going on the adventure together.

Cameo time - Grandma was with us the whole day behind the scenes.

Lunch time - Lucia had her favorite, Mac 'n Cheese!

After bumper cars, we hit a final few rides. "Hit" being the operative word since we teamed up and rammed everyone on the bumper cars.

All this fun sure can wear out a 7year old.

After Funplex, we went to a movie and then after the movie we went to a Thai restaurant in the neighborhood especially requested by Lucia. We were joined by Mateo, Valentina, Papi, Aba and Abu.

After dinner, Papi presented Lucia with all of the gifts he had bought for her to make up for missing her special day. She was definitely excited.

We ended with some birthday cupcakes and a family serenade.

Siblings rule!

Not to be forgotten...

...we relit the candles and serenaded Lucia's birthday buddy, Abu.

Miss Lucia, my middle child, my little child with the big personality. You have the unique position of being both a big and little sis and have managed the roles remarkably. This past year you have proven yourself to be strong, determined and persistent in the classroom, on the mat and on the track. Your thoughtfulness and consideration for those around you never ceases to amaze me. I love you more than words can say. Happy 7th Birthday Speedy Gonzalez!
